NYSUM – Opperation Drumstick
November 11-13
For 37 years the New York School of Urban Ministry has partnered with pastors, churches, and numerous ministries throughout NYC. The result is the training of over 150,000 urban leaders in “Hands on” compassion ministry. NTC has been able to benefit from this work and support it for over 20 years.
Approximately 3.3 million New Yorkers experience difficulty affording food for themselves and their families, an increase of 60 percent since 2003.
During Operation Drumstick, your team will be involved with feeding Thanksgiving meals to 5,000 needy people throughout New York City. These hurting people will receive a good old-fashioned Thanksgiving Dinner with all the trimmings: roasted turkey, cornbread stuffing, vegetables, cranberry sauce, and dessert. In addition, your team will experience two nights of ministering to the homeless on the streets of New York City.
This short term missions trip will cost $300/person and will cover transportation to/from NYC as well as around the city, lodging, meals at NYSUM and the support to help make this ministry continue. A $50 non refundable fee secures your spot on the team. There are 8 spots available. The rest of the fee is due by the first week of October. If money is an issue please know we have fundraising opportunities and don’t want this alone to stand in your way. If you are not able to make it this time we hope you will look for other opportunities in the future!
