Our Work in  Gulu, Uganda

In 2010 NTC began a journey of connection in Gulu, Uganda. We partnered in supporting the growth of a children’s home and continued to help support the 16 children in the home, with a desire to eventually start a church. We later realized the country was shutting down children’s homes and trying to establish a foster system within their country. The Ugandan people have a strong family unit and care very much about blood family. Although the system is very broken still, in 2016 we felt that the right move was to help support the children we had been caring for by reestablishing connection with their biological families.
Since that time, we have had a team of people serving these kids on behalf of NTC. This includes the three women who chose to go live in Gulu during this time and through this transition of closing the home – Jenna White, Hannah Castro-Lazano, and Kayla Kesner. Kayla now serves in Gulu long term along with our hired case worker Peter, to continue to care for the kids in a mentorship way and with the families to best care for these youth.

NTC family of churches has committed to continue sponsoring these students up to S4 grade level (which equates to our high school) and then a trade school (2 years). Our desire is to support them to a place of self-sustaining empowerment while walking with them on their journey with financial, spiritual, and practical support.  Our desire has been and continues to be to come along every child to support them spiritually and practically.

Kayla Kesner left to live in northern Uganda in the fall of 2021.  She had a burden to help us support the emotional and spiritual needs of the youth we first began to sponsor back in 2010.  Kayla has been an intricate part of this journey with NTC for many years.  She has lived in Uganda for months at a time in the past and supported this missions with all her heart and soul.  She knows the area and has She is truly building depth of relationship and trust, planting seeds of restoration toward who God really is.  He is trust worthy, loving, loyal,  and kind and she is His image of this to these kids right now as you read this.  We get to join this journey by praying for Kayla and keeping her wrapped in our love and care as a family. We also get to come along side her and support her financial needs so she can be over there doing this work with one less concern.  If you would like to be a part of this journey you can partner with us by signing up for the Gulu newsletter or pledging and giving monthly to help Kayla meet her financial goals.  Let’s go together.

We are looking forward to starting the 2022-2023 NTC Uganda School Sponsorship year, September 2022 – August 2023!

We are in need of more school sponsors this year, as increasing prices of inflation are also affecting the school costs for tuition and school supplies. We need a total of 34 sponsors for this sponsorship year to send the 15 students we support to school for the year. The school sponsorship commitment will continue to be $30/month per sponsor, with the year running from September 2022 to August 2023 ($360 total for the year). All of your funds will go directly toward these children’s school tuition and requirements.

This is a great opportunity to directly impact the next generation and it would not be possible without the faithful generosity of our school sponsors!

Please prayerfully consider becoming a sponsor and committing to a year of giving. Thank you for your consideration in supporting these children’s futures. Click the link to sign up and we will reach out to you with details for how to best give!
